Definitely the best Lucy Kincaid novel yet-- Lucy and Sean have really come into their own and grown as characters and as a couple, the supporting cast is spot on, and the socio/psychopath(s) du jour are perfectly believable and chilling. Writers Kathy Reichs and Steve Berry could take a note from Allison Brennan's pages: How to keep a series going without it becoming stupid and boring.

In the latest Lucy Kincaid adventure, we find Lucy at the beginning of her training at Quantico. If you've been reading the series, you will know that Lucy's first FBI application was denied, but she was admitted on her second one. Lucy's enjoying her time with her training class, but she knows that she is being watched because of her past (kidnapped, then being broadcast on the internet while she was being raped.) One of her instructors clearly doesn't like her, for reasons known to Lucy's sister-in-law Kate. Aside from that, a reporter is murdered. She had ties to a case on which Lucy worked and now Lucy is being asked to assist the police and FBI with the investigation.

Again, the story has not grown stale. Lucy is still a fascinating character, along with her boyfriend, Sean Rogan. Other characters from past novels show up, too - Lucy's brother, Patrick, Hans Vigo, and Tony Presidio. What I love, though, is that if you haven't read the other novels, you can still follow the storyline.

    Highly recommend.

Allison Brennan is one of my all time favourite authors. I have read all the stories of the Kincaid family & I must say this would have to be one of my all time favourites. Once i started it, I could not put it down & just had to finish it down (all within 24 hrs)!

For those unsure of the storyline, Lucy Kincaid has recently been accepted to train as an FBI recruit. Her relationship with Sean Rogan is still going strong but despite the support from her mentors & her partner's she feels an intense unease about her trainers in response to her past.

Throw a couple of murders into the equation and you have a well written suspense novella.

The story is introduced from the narrative of a 9 year old boy named Peter McMahon, whose world is turned upside down when his sister is kidnapped from her room & subsequently raped & murdered all during the time their parents are hosting a swingers party. The parents stalled the investigation by lying to the police of what they were doing at the time of the kidnapping.

The reporter who sensationalised her focus of the parents form of entertainment when their child was killed, releases a best-selling book 5 years later.

10 years after the release of this book, the reporter & former officers associated with this case are killed. Local NYPD calls in the FBI for assistance & Lucy Kincaid is pulled into the investigation.

    Read it!!

I cannot wait until Stolen is released for the next installment of the Kincaid family.

Really enjoyed this and found the mystery exciting. I have been a fan of this series for a long time. So glad I found the audios at my library.

I love this series by Allison Brennan. It is one of the best of this type of romantic suspense where the partners are together romantically and in crime solving. Lucy Kincaid and Sean Rogan both have troubled pasts but they have found a soul mate in each other. They love and respect each other. The crimes in this series are believable and hard for the reader to solve. If you have never read any of AB's books or this series I would highly recommend that you give it a try.

    Review up on my blog:

Out of all the murder mysteries I have read as of late this series has been my favorite. Allison Brennan is a phenomenal author, captivating her audience and drawing them into her story.

Lucy Kincaid has found herself at Quantico, her dream career right in front of her, however someone is out to sabotage her. Someone doesn’t think she should be there. And a secret comes to light that destroys Lucy trust in someone she loves.

However, that’s not the only thing standing between Lucy and her badge. A murderer is at Qunatico and she is the only one that can get into the killers head. She has found herself in yet another investigation, alongside Noah, Sean and some other old friends.

Will Lucy find her strength to carry on at Quantico? Or will her friends betrayal be what ends her dream?

    4 stars.

Another enjoyable RS. I was really invested in finding out about the little boy Peter. The villains' motives are quite wacked but understandable after it's been explained.

Again it's Lucy who finds that crucial clue and gets in the middle of the final showdown. It's almost as if everyone just defers to her, which I think is a bit unrealistic since they are all much more seasoned than she is. But I guess that's why it's called fiction. :)

This was a quick, impulse pick up and read back in May for me. I had done little research on it, but it was available and I wanted a read. I devoured it quickly, and obviously, quickly figured out some specifics of the character and series. I like taking a series on from the beginning, as an author would intend for the reader. I like the main character in this one, and will certainly seek out Allison Brennan as an author again in the future from the beginning.

In between tidbits of interesting storyline were just copious amounts of uninteresting words. I can’t believe this is the 5th book in the series!
