I am a major fan of action, romance, drama etc. so this was book was right up my alley. With a plot line that keeps you hooked, suspenseful action to keep you intrigued, witty funny moments that keep you giggling, a romance brimming with sexual tension that literally makes you want to yell in frustration to a story about a girl learning to take chances and finally open herself to people she cares about, this book was just what I needed to read.

I LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH!!! Although, it's more of a 4.5 than a 5 for the simple fact that it could have been cut short by a LOT, but whatever. I LOVED IT.

It's got a lot going on for it.

A swoon worthy hero - Yep. ETHAN IS PRETTY MUCH AWESOME PERSONIFIED. He's protective, but not overbearing and controlling. He's alpha just enough to make him sexy but not creepy. He's not a womanizing douchelord (and we all know how much I love a hero I don't have to worry about). He's so honest and straight-for

He's not a womanizing douchelord (and we all know how much I love a hero I don't have to worry about). He's so honest and straight-forward with feelings that I never for a second doubted him.

And, according to our heroine, good in bed. Like a sex god, or something. Not kidding.

You know what, I say he alone is reason enough to read this book! But to make things better, the book also has

A pretty damn awesome heroine - Alex is spunky, sharp wit, and can probably take better care of herself than anyone else can take care of her. I liked that she never played the dumb, weak heroine, and whenever something major happened, like her realizing she grew too attached to the kids, or her feelings for Ethan, she ended up facing those things and dealing with them. I liked that when the time came, she let Ethan take care of her. I loved how protective she was of him, almost as much as he was of her.

Do you know how I felt? I felt these two were completely even in this relationship, kind of the way it should be, eh.

OMG the frickin sexual tension was killing me. The whole time I thought, it better be worth it in the end! (It was). They have such amazing chemistry, these two. It's not insta love! They get to know each other, they become really close, they fall in love. It's a natural, slow-building type of romance that makes you want to savor every word because it's that good.

The sheer determination these two put into fighting for each other... it was awesome. I knew they were in love.

I'm pretty stoked about this book because one, it was something different in a sea of same-old-same-old NA, but also because I was never, for a second frustrated with these characters and their decisions. There's drama, there's action, there's steam, and it's all handled in a way that didn't piss me off.

And it was also an original story, you know.

I loved all the side characters, the author gave them all personalities and I felt like I knew them by the end just as much as Alex did.

The writing is engaging, funny, had me LOL quite a few times, great dialogue. But sadly, it was just a little too much. I think mostly I skimmed the fighting and training scenes? It's ten thousand plus kindle freaking locations - this book. Took me forever to read it, even if I was very very interested in what happens.

There are a couple of graphic sex scenes, I thought they were done very well.

Oh and yeah, mildly graphic violence as well.

Overall? Yeah, if you're looking for something different I'd definitely recommend this book! It does deal with the story that's a bit - out there. I don't think there are actually houses for pick-pocketing kids to improve their skills and then use them for good or whatever. But you know, it's all fiction. It was a great, entertaining (and hot!) read. I'm kind of hoping for an August/Spencer story? Yeah. Definitely recommend it.

Well, our heroine Alex was a lonely girl that after she had drop college cause she couldn't afford, she was working and sometimes she was stealing... One day, Brooks approach her and he proposed her to follow him in a cabin far away for some "thieves" school... Eventually she takes the risk to follow him and after a lot of time she finds herself surrounding from many people...

People who welcome her and showing her emotions that eventually starts feeling back for them!!! And that scared the shit out off her!!!

Among these "awesome" people, it's one guy that makes her feel many different things but mostly hate...

They don't get along with each other, even than the sexual tension between them is everywhere!!!!

In the beginning they try to ignore each other and after a while they arranged a thin truce between them...

that leads Alex to be more closely to Ethan than anybody else....

In a while the things have take an unexpected turn who made them start running and hiding and seperated them from the other members of their small "family" and that fact changes everything....

I really liked all the other members of the family...

Ollie, Brooks, August, Spencer... You were all so great!!!!

And i enjoyed so much the fights...

    the racings...

    the practises...

    the falling in love...

    small little things...

and eventually i liked every single moment of this book!!!!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It was just everything, action drama love teasing... What made it so great where all the characters and I loved each an every one of them. The plot line kept me hooked and invested. The writing was smooth and the stye carried the story line well.

Plus a hawt guy with a beard*multiple swooooons* and a supporting cast I love as much - Oliver, Spencer, August, Brooks & the whole crew.

The only disappointment is that this is a stand alone & can-you-believe-it the only work by the author - whyyyyyyyy??? She should write more! Please people, we need to add more sensible plots to the romance genre. So encourage authors like this one to write more! Cat Phoenix if you ever read this. Please girl you gotta write!!!!

This was a unique story and I did enjoy it. I had some major issues with the pacing by the end (see below pacing section) that brought my rating down. I felt like the book would really improve if (1) it was shorter (I typically like longer books, but some of this could've been edited out since it lagged at times), (2) they got together sooner, and (3) the author didn't cram all of the sex scenes at the end in pretty much one big section. I also would've really liked to get Ethan's POV. I think it would've added a lot to the story to understand where he was coming from and dealing with as well as Alex. I personally struggle with suspenseful romances when I don't feel like it has a good balance between the suspense and the romance -- and I did struggle with that in this one. So, if you like your suspenseful romances heavier on suspense and a book that has a good slow-burn connection with the mcs (because I did enjoy their connection)...this might be great for you.

This is Alex and Ethan's story. Alex is approached at her job at a bookstore by Brooks to join his team of thieves. They are honest thieves that only take jobs that are morally right. She reluctantly goes with him to check out his compound and meet the others on his team, and this is where she meets Ethan. They have some hostility to get over, but then they become friends. Eventually those friendly feelings turn into more, and they fall in love. There are some action packed scenes, some sexy times, and they do get a HFN ending.

This was told in Alex's POV.

Ok. It is on the longer side. I did feel like it dragged a little at times, and I skimmed some at the end during the (what felt like non-stop) sex scenes -- shocking, I know ;)

No, they have sufficient time to develop stronger feelings IMO.

3 stars. Ethan. He was ok. I would've really appreciated having his POV to get inside his head.

4 stars. Alex. She was a tough, cool chick. I liked her, and especially her witty banter.

    Low. No tissues needed.

    Yes, but pretty mild

Moderate. They take a long time to become intimate, and then at the end that seemed to be all the story was. They had pretty good chemistry.

    Yes

Yes. Condoms are used until other birth control is started. No mentions of previous practices that I remember.

    No

This had ok closure with a HFN ending. I would've liked a jump ahead epilogue with a little bit more commitment for the couple.

With the title as hitting as fighting,

one would think that the book would be a romantic read where the couple would fight through to fall in love eventually or it would be an adrenaline teaser with blood and bones raining everywhere or if for nothing it would atleast be about a fighter. Well let me gladly disappoint you because the book is none of that. In fact I am still clueless as to what exactly

Well let me gladly disappoint you because the book is none of that. In fact I am still clueless as to what exactly the book was

The characters are good, narration is good, the basic backdrop and setting could be forcibly agreed upon to be good because frankly to say that you need to see the backdrop clear right? .

The trouble with the book is that it is way too fantasized that it has completely come unhinged. The plot and story developments feels too dramatical , theatrical and fantasized that you cannot actually feel it to be real and believable.

The book starts of nicely and you clearly see a potential thriller but as you proceed and wait for the book to pickup, you disappointingly realize that the book is going nowhere worthwhile and is just passing time with irrelevant story plot like I had dinner today with my housemates and we talked about flowers and later slept in "dog dead for the night" pose. Alright you would by this point say so what is so bad about that. Well how about I keep doing the same thing in different ways for the rest of the book and in between keep adding stuff like oh while we were eating, two aliens came in demanding for a serving of spaghetti and meatballs with two cans of beers to go. You think I am talking crazy? Imagine what I must have felt with the book.. Well to be fair the above is just an example and not actual events in the story. I just don’t want to be a spoiler so I am using best suited examples

The Book has only one and major fault and that is improper plot development. The base structure fails miserable as the author gets caught up in defining and mentioning cute and sweet moments that the real story suffers from lack of attention. I admit there are lots of cute, sweet, romantic moments but that is irrelevant when the story doesn’t go anywhere. It is at the near end that the plot actually shows a bit spark but that too gets put out soon.

Started off really well but it went downhill from there. There wasn't enough thievery. It felt like the author was setting up this cool organisation and opportunity for action, but then hardly anything happened. The "danger" part of the story felt weak and too easy to be a real threat. It also happened too late in the book for me. I feel like a lot of the relationship building dragged out longer than necessary(particularly with Ethan)so that there ended up being very little time for pay off. And

It also happened too late in the book for me. I feel like a lot of the relationship building dragged out longer than necessary(particularly with Ethan)so that there ended up being very little time for pay off. And... I don't really understand what happened with both Ethan and Alex's characters. They both really changed. And not for the better, it wasn't really growth. Alex did open up, and that's great, but I don't really understand why she had to become so... vanilla. I mean you can still be snarky and fun when you're in love. I feel like a lot of that side of her was suppressed the more she fell for Ethan. And it only seemed to come out when she was away from him, which was annoying. Ethan himself started to come off a lot more aggressive the closer they got (before they were even together), which seemed at odds with who I thought he was at the beginning. I really love romantic relationships that feel like a team, and whilst they started off that way, by the end it definitely felt like Ethan held the power in the relationship. I also didn't like how Alex just jumped to the conclusion that Ethan could never like her, didn't even consider it. It was so at odds with how she was written at other points of the book. I'm just tired of heroines who need a guy to give them a self esteem boost. The ending was anticlimactic. The last few chapters seemed like they should have happened earlier, because they just felt tacked on after the conflict had been resolved.
