10/10, good stuff, just like the anime. Even though it's just pictures, the way Furudate draws movement is very effective in accurately portraying the epicness of the sport. This is something I was worried about, that it wouldn't be as enjoyable as seeing everything animated.

The absolute best thing about this series, what makes it the powerhouse story that it is, what makes me and so many others love it so much, is

The absolute best thing about this series, what makes it the powerhouse story that it is, what makes me and so many others love it so much, is

. Oh boy, how Furudate knows how to write characters!! There are literally episodes in the anime (ones not covered in this volume) where they introduce characters, tell you their stories, and make you like and sympathize with them to the point where even though they're against the main characters, you end up cheering for them. All of this. IN ONE EPISODE!! It's actually crazy how fast and effectively Furudate can develop such good, realistic, multidimensional characters. So yeah. The characters are probably the best part of the series. That and also the volleyball moments are FRICKEN AWESOME too. Need I say more? Start this series.

So far judging from just this first volume, the anime followed the manga

. They didn't skimp out on animating anything from this volume. Though I usually like reading manga to see extra scenes that were omitted from the anime, I really didn't mind it at all it this time because it's just so enjoyable I don't need any more, it's perfect as is.

Still judging just by this volume, if you're wondering whether to read the manga or watch the anime, right now it's really up to your personal preference because they're pretty identical. In later volumes who knows, this might change. But, as someone who has seen both seasons of the anime I can tell you it is an absolute blast, and I absolutely reccomend it.

This was sort of like my situation with Seraph of the End, except that I'm currently watching the second season of this anime series, and I freaking love it to pieces. Pretty much every thing about it in fact. So I wanted to check out the manga to see how it differed, and if I would like it as much.

And again, turns out I did. While I prefer this show over Seraph of the End, I still do like both. But Haikyuu overall has greater characters, and almost all of them get some surprisingly great develo

And again, turns out I did. While I prefer this show over Seraph of the End, I still do like both. But Haikyuu overall has greater characters, and almost all of them get some surprisingly great development as the plot moves along. There are also some slight differences in the first volume compared to the anime adaptation that were shown better there, but I still didn't mind them. In fact, I think I'm growing to both Sugawara and Ryunosuke more now XD. But then again, I pretty much love all of the characters.

I don't have as greater of a desire to continue the manga series of Haikyuu as much as I do with Seraph's, but I'm still interested. This show is amazing, and my new current obsession, and I have no doubts that the manga will get better from here.

I love reading sports mangas but most of them are baseball-related. This is the first manga (about volleyball) that I read and I love it. What I love most about this is the lead character and how he is not some pansy and coward hero but because he started-out strong despite his ultimate weakness- his height.

    PURRRRFECT...

Since Hungry heart Wild striker I've been a great fan of sports anime/manga. Started with Slam dunk, Captain Tsubasa followed by Kuroko no Basuke and now Haikyuu and Free/Free Eternal summer. Brilliant volley manga and pretty realistic. A must watch/read for the sport fans.

    Beside I adore Tanaka.

Beautiful, character-driven volleyball sports manga. About a short, very rumbustious orange-haired kid named Hinata who joins his high school volleyball team, Karasuno. With his amazing reflexes and crazy jumping ability he is able to receive the prodigy setter's sets and together this freshman duo leads their team to Nationals.
