Volleyball (some great explanations in here too!), team spirit, a cast of loveable quirky characters that only gets bigger and more amazing each volume, scenes that make me laugh, games that I'm invested in and have I mentioned the colourful cast that makes me squee, jump and fall in love again and again?

    POOR KARASUNO. MY POOR BABIES.

Things we learnt from this volume:

-Oikawa is STILL trash. (But I still love him),

-Ennoshita is such an underrated character in this series !,

-Yamaguchi is precious and needs to be protected at all costs,

-The third years make me super emotional (almost as emotional at Hinata) because I don't want any of them to leave the team, EVER. (What will Karasuno do without their team mum and dad - Suga and Daichi?!),

-Also, everyone's crying during the dinner scene was too cut

I feel their pain but I'm excited to carry on reading, mainly because I know we're going to meet one of my favourite characters soon! (Bokuto!) and revisit two of my favourites (Kenma & Kuroo!)

    BRING IT ON.

Another brilliant volume. We see how much Kageyama has changed from his junior high days trusting and relying on his team. How they are strong but Seijoh are stronger and more adaptable at thinking around a problem. We see how Karasuno aren't giving up and are going to give it their all for the next tournament.

Whoah Seijoh figured out a way to catch on to Hinata’s attacks. Aww yeah Yamaguchi gets put in with his jumping float serve to hopefully turn things around. His serve hit the net but it was super important for Daichi to say “You’ll make it next time.” to him that really boosted his confidence.

Noya man, when it was the match point he got everyone to loosen up again.

HOLY CRAP KAGEYAMA DID A ONE HANDED TOSS AHHH! Hinata manged to hit a brilliant spike despite his jumps weakening, he turned the game around!

Oikawa missed a serve. He is feeling the pressure. Ngl seeing Seijoh fight and put it all the team effort is lovely and it’s sad to see them struggle. Iwazumi telling Oikawa to focus on the current opponent not the future one caused him to serve full force.

Kageyama seeing Kunimi smile during the match hurt my heart. Kageyama saw him loved by his team, and fight when everyone else was struggling to catch their breath. He knew he didn’t give that too him ahh.

Ouch Seijoh won “Tobio with your rapid development you may just win, but not today.” Karasuno were eliminated from the torment.

Kageyama apologises to Hinata for the last toss but Hinata got mad and told him not to apologise to ever tossing to him. The stood up strong. They ate their meal through their tears.

Everyone is sad, but the thirds years want to keep playing and Yamaguchi is still practising.

Seijoh and Shiratorizawa made it to the finals and wow Shiratorizawa won both sets.

Thirds years had a decision to make but they continued with volleyball and are aiming for the spring high tournament.

but then, aoba johsai didn't manage to beat shiratorizawa yet again, so that's enough to make me feel quite happy. although i do want to see them beat shira once. just once. because reasons.

also this volume is pretty much perfect and i'm dead. now i'll go listen to the last track of the season 1 ost and cry for 3 hours. bye.

Haikyuu!! v8 provides the epic conclusion of the Miyagi prefectural inter high qualifier. The volume covers the final volley among Karasuno and Aoba Johsai (Blue Castle) with some pretty epic panels and moments. Both teams even reach the point of running on fumes, which oddly provided even more excitement for the match. It was great.

Character growth and development continued to be the highlight of the manga and here we saw it true for characters on both sides. Kageyama delivered fantastic growth from his tyrannical king past to know a king that listen to his followers, while on the Aoba Johsai side, we actually had some moments of growth for Kunimi. I do hope we see more of Aoba Johsai in the future.

Extras included two bonus stories, commentary in between chapters, and sketches.

brings us the conclusion to the Aoba Johsai vs Karasuno match! With the game continuing to be neck and neck, one player steps up to try and turn the tide... but will he be able to do it? Let's break it down.

is a ball of sunshine who must be protected at all times. I was super nervous when he got called in as a pinch server, especially with the knowledge we have that he only gets one by fumbling into it during practice. Amazingly, Yamaguchi gets the hit correct, it's a solid hit, no spin... exactly what a float serve should be... just not enough power to make it over the net. His first time in a high school match and he failed his one job. It's enough to break the readers heart, especially when you see how guilty he feels and how mad he is at himself later on. But I think this could be a great learning experience for Yamaguchi, and I know he can only improve from here on out.

really do steal the show this volume. They both keep going harder, faster, longer.. and it rouses the team to do the same. The match has gone into a third set, and it's been pretty neck in neck the entire time... but for the game to go on this long - especially in a sport with no time limit - it is exhausting physically and emotionally and the mangaka does a fantastic job of showing that.

really was not a surprise. As hard as our lovely volleyball boys worked, the fact of the matter is that the Aoba boys have worked together more, built stronger bonds and are just a little bit...

. Although it was extremely sad to see the team lose this match, it also serves as a valuable lesson that you can't win all the time. Something the Aoba boys learn later on as they are once again thoroughly defeated by Shiratorizawa... And man, are those guys kinda scary...

is the Spring Tournament... if they go. At this time in their high school lives, exams are fast approaching and it is time for the boys to focus on their future. Asahi staying isn't a problem - he has expressed no interest in college. But Suga and Daichi do want to pursue further education, and with volleyball taking up their time, their teachers don't see a reason for them to endanger their grades for a sport neither are likely to receive scholarships for...

This was a bittersweet volume, but no less amazing! I love the showdown between Aoba Johsai and Karasuno from start to finish! Another 5 out of 5.

I already knew the match was going to end like that but I was so nervous!!!!

This panel made my day. Don't worry Tobio, I know you'll be able to smile normally... someday...

Yamaguchi: Oh goodness who knew freckles had so much fight in his bean pole ish body? He's adorable and he's trying super hard.

Karasuno Team: .... well that happened. I suppose it only made sense.... Aiba Johsai and it's team definitely outclassed Karasuno. They need a lot more time working together before they'll be ready to beat a team of that level. But they sure as hell did make Oikawa and gang work for that win!

... I also take sick pleasure in knowing that Aoba Johsai were Shirato

Hmm... all I can really think of is that I don't really care for everyone trying to push the third years on the decisions they've made. Like... it's their choice, isn't it? They've made it and they won't change their minds. So I don't see why having Takeda- sensei would make a difference.

continues where the previous tankōbon left off and contains the next nine chapters (63–71) of the on-going manga series and two bonus stories: "Please Teach Me! Ennoshita Senpai!" and "Class 1-3's Kageyama-kun".

This tankōbon continues with the Interhigh Tournament – in particular with the match of Karasuno High School vs. Aobajohsai High School. The final set was extremely well fought with advantage going back and forth from one team to the next. In the end, Aobajohsai High School winning with a score of 31|3|33 – an extremely well fought match. In the end, Shiratorizawa Academy defeats Aobajoshsai in representing the prefecture for the Interhigh Tournament.

I was glad to see Tadashi Yamaguchi, a first year student, had a chance to play in a match. For the most part, he has been sitting on the bench, but was sent in as a pinch server. Apparently, during his spare time, Makoto Shimada, an alumnus of Karasuno's Volley Ball team and a part of the Karasuno Neighbourhood Association, has been teaching Tadashi Yamaguchi how to float serve.

Ittetsu Takeda has a couple sagacious moments in this tankōbon. Firstly, he tells Shōyō Hinata and Tobio Kageyama that only the strong continue on with the game, but losing doesn't makes one is weak, staying down and never getting up is the sign of weakness. However, getting up and continuing, no matter how many times one falls is a sign of strength.

He also has the undesirable, albeit important task of talking to the third years students at his club. It is usually this juncture in time where third-year students leave their clubs to concentrate in their university preparation entrance exams. Therefore, he gathered Daichi Sawamura, captain of the volleyball team, Kōshi Sugawara, the vice-captain of the volleyball team, Asahi Azumane, the team’s ace, and Kiyoko Shimizu, the manager of the team and has them reconsider staying on the team and to tell them to think hard about their future. In the end, they all returned to the team.

There is apparently another tournament held in Tokyo called the Spring Interhigh. This is a national tournament for high school volleyball teams. The tournament takes places during the winter and is held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium. The spring Interhigh is considered one of the most prolific events of the high school level volleyball tournaments.

Haruichi Furudate has written and illustrated this tankōbon. For the most part, I really liked the story. While the Interhigh Tournament was exciting, I rather liked the quiet character building moments where Ittetsu Takeda shone the most as the faculty adviser to the volleyball team. The Spring Interhigh Tournament sounds interestingly enough – just wished that it were named something different. I hope they just do not jump into another tournament, as I am rather worn-out with tournament play now.

    All in all,

is a wonderful continuation to a new series that seems really intriguing and I can't wait to read more.

That one game took like three volumes. I think Viz can go ahead and release two of these per month.
