Mercy. I'm kinda from the South, the Florida Panhandle (look at a map of Florida and that little part sticking out to the West is the Panhandle). The pictures in this book are sublime. Oh, I now live in New England, so I truly miss Southern cooking. These recipes remind me of home; when I first moved up here, nary a grits to be found but now they are common. The recipe here is exactly how I make mine. The only things missing are buttermilk fried chicken and fried mullet (just as well,

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for anyone who wants to taste Southern cooking at its best.

My daughter teases me that I read cookbooks like they are novels. This one was very enjoyable. My Dad was from the south (Georgia to be exact) and I have always enjoyed (and created to some degree) Southern fare. I especially enjoyed the pantry list something my Dad and I had talked about and actually began in writing our own cookbook. And I also liked the lists at the back with the weeknight creations and freeze ahead meals. Both are versions of what I do for myself with index cards tucked inside my own 3 ring notebook of recipes. Pictures are well done. Discussion is limited but inviting. I really liked this book! An inspiration to get back to my own cookbook that my Dad and I started years ago. Well done!!

This is written in a style that I love! I will look for more of her books. Any newlywed needs this book to get them started. A keeper for sure!

This cookbook features 105 Southern recipes that you can make out of what you already might have in your pantry. The author talks about what pantry staples she thinks are best and good ways to store pantry items. One of the things I liked best about this cookbook is that each recipe has symbols denoting whether this recipe freezes well, or what substitutions can be made for what ingredients, shortcuts, parts of the recipe you can make ahead, etc. That makes these recipes even more user friendly

One of the things I liked best about this cookbook is that each recipe has symbols denoting whether this recipe freezes well, or what substitutions can be made for what ingredients, shortcuts, parts of the recipe you can make ahead, etc. That makes these recipes even more user friendly because they answer some of those kind of questions on the front end. There were lots of mouth-watering recipes I'd like to try from this one. Plus, I just love a good Southern cookbook.

This books is about pantry basics and therefore has a great section on what you should have stocked in your kitchen, both food and supplies wise. I love this concept because I myself don't like meal planning and operate out of a stocked kitchen mostly winging my meals and whipping up what I have on hand.

    ⠀⠀

I think this book is great for anyone who loves to cook from a recipe, and for myself who doesn't like to cook from a recipe, this was a great inspiration book to be more varied in my kitchen.

There was some stuff that I found in this book that I liked, like tex mex corn dip or Sweet corn pudding, but most of it was a little too southern for me. There were also not enough pictures for my liking in a cookbook. Some of the recipes were just a few ingredients and a little bit of instructions. Most of the recipes were ingredient after ingredient and the instructions filled the page. While I would not mind owning this book because there would be stuff that I would try in this. This is NOT

Nothing impressive or outstanding. Does anyone need another biscuit recipe? I actually tried to return it but Amazon said I needed to call them to get a refund, really not pleased with that ... you should pay me for my time not rip me off when I only want to return a book I didn't enjoy.
