The Deliciously Keto Cookbook

The Deliciously Keto Cookbook

The Ketogenic diet is a high-fat, moderate-protein, low-carb diet originally developed to reduce the frequency of seizures in epilepsy patients. More recently, however, it has found a mainstream audience who view it as a real foods-based diet with weight loss and other overall health benefits. By focusing on dietary fat and ketones instead of simple carb-derived glucose as...

I'm always looking for new recipes to help me stick with my diet and when I ran across this cookbook I was excited. I've been on a ketogenic diet since late March 2016 and I've lost 110 pounds. I'm still looking to lose about 20 more pounds but the past year has been a bit tough on me so I've been maintaining. The recipes all look delicious and aren't super prep heavy where I'd be spending half the day in my kitchen for one meal. I've had that issue with a few of the other cookbooks I've tried a

I've had that issue with a few of the other cookbooks I've tried and I'm too busy to do that. The book starts out explaining a bit about the diet and the benefits and things then moves on to the recipes. The types of dishes are grouped nicely into each chapter - breakfasts, snacks, appetizers, salads, soups, then the different types of meats each have their own chapter, and don't forget about the desserts at the end. The pictures are large and done well and I appreciated the nutritional information included with the recipes.

I tried out a few of the recipes and my favorite so far is a super simple Chicken Alfredo with Broccolini (I used broccoli). With my food allergies I haven't found a good store bought low carb alfredo sauce that I wouldn't react to and always thought it was more difficult to make than it really is. The flavor was excellent and it reheats well which is a major plus in my book. I have a feeling several of the dishes from this cookbook will make it into our weekly meal rotation. It's always nice to try out new meals and I've found several which to me makes this book worth it. If you're starting a ketogenic diet or looking for more recipes to try like I was I highly recommend you try this cookbook!

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley for an honest review.

Wonderful pictures and recipes with a short but informative section on living the keto lifestyle. My only complaint is that there were quite a few recipes that were higher in carbs then I would have liked, given the serving size.

Thank you to NetGalley and DK for an e-ARC of this title, in exchange for my honest opinion. I've just delved into Keto...literally starting this week. This book was perfect timing for me. The recipes look so good, with pictures to accompany them. The book didn't delve too much into information on Keto, which I appreciated. When I get a Keto book, I want information; with a cookbook, I want recipes. I enjoyed this book a great deal, and I'm pretty certain I'll be purchasing a hard copy for my li

    Very well done Keto cookbook!

It clearly outlines and provides context for starting and maintaining a Ketogenic diet and also the impact it may have on the individuals health.

I do not rigidly follow a Ketogenic diet but I am familiar with it. Overall, these recipes are a very wonderful set of staples for any Keto diet. There is a mix of different fats and proteins and ranges from breakfast to dessert. This would be a great addition to any keto cookbook collection!

***Thank you to NetGalley & the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review***

It's rare to have a cookbook that has so many recipes; I was shocked. There was a wide variety of meals that cater to everyone from the keto beginner with recipes feature household staples to the more experienced chef with recipes that require more difficult to find ingredients.

The kitchen is not my go-to place, but it is where the food is so it is where you will find me most days, eating that is. Cooking and cleaning are necessary evils, but if the results produce great results then I guess I can make an exception (but my takeout game remains strong). It is not for everybody and I am by no means a die-hard keto(er??), but when you are trying to avoid the white devil (i.e. sugar) and bad carbs than you may want to give it try. There are differing degrees of keto, but The Deliciously Keto goes right into the phases of ketosis and is more hardcore than casual. The book breaks all that down in the first chapter. Science is not my thing, (unless you're talking scifi, syfy, or beauty stuff - my fandom and vanity know no bounds) so I skimmed that part and went straight for the recipes. I found most of the recipes are heavy on the dairy so if that's not your food bag then you may want to skip this one. I like dairy, but there is only so much cheese one gal can take (butter, on the other hand, I'm all in). The recipes are straightforward and the info is laid out in a traditional cookbook format but is a little light in the visuals IMO. Overall a good base, but if you decide to try keto you may need a bit more inspiration.

I have read a lot of Ketogenic cookbooks and there are a lot of good points to this one. I like that there are a few "classic" dishes re-done to Keto standards. I also like the layout of the book, especially in the beginning where the authors go over the science behind Keto. That being said, this is not my favorite Keto cookbook. Many of the recipes use heavy dairy, which isn't tolerated well in my family. This book is middle of the road for me, but would probably be well received for those with

Thanks to Netgalley for a copy of this book, which I voluntarily reviewed.

My husband and I are just getting our feet wet in the keto diet world, so I was eager to review a new keto recipe book.

I really appreciated the beginning section that explained the keto diet. I really liked that she co-wrote the book with a clinical researcher. However, many of the recipes had very exotic ingredients that I simply cannot obtain at my small-town, Midwestern grocery story. I would probably have to drive two hours to the big city to find a grocery store that had some of these. Qui

However, many of the recipes had very exotic ingredients that I simply cannot obtain at my small-town, Midwestern grocery story. I would probably have to drive two hours to the big city to find a grocery store that had some of these. Quite honestly, some of the ingredients I had never even heard of, and I’ve been cooking a long time. Also, some of the recipes had a relatively high carb count which could throw someone out of ketosis.

Overall, I’m glad I read the cookbook. But I think there are other books out there that meet my needs more than this one.

I gratefully received this book as an eARC from the author, publisher, and NetGalley in exchange for my unbiased review.

This book is not just recipes. The beginning is a tutorial on the benefits of keto (many) and hazards (few). I liked that the recipes covered occasions, like breakfast, snacks ect. and different proteins. I also felt like the recipes were diverse enough for normal life without becoming boring and also comforting which is something you sometimes miss when you start a new diet plan. Unlike most people who do keto for weight loss my reasons for trying it are more health-related. Wish me luck!

Warning, this book is being reviewed by a life-long vegetarian.

    Release the judgementalness!!!!

This is the Very First Keto cookbook that I have read. I like cookbooks, right? I usually find a few recipes. Let's see how this cookbook fares.

The book claims the benefits of a Keto diet include:

☞Better Mental Clarity ☞More Restful Sleep

    ☞Weight Loss ☞Steady Energy supply

    ☞Lower Risk of Chronic Disease

Keto diets consist of low carbohydrates (5% of diet), medium protein(20% of diet), and high healthy fat

The book claims the benefits of a Keto diet include:

☞Better Mental Clarity ☞More Restful Sleep

    ☞Weight Loss ☞Steady Energy supply

    ☞Lower Risk of Chronic Disease

Keto diets consist of low carbohydrates (5% of diet), medium protein(20% of diet), and high healthy fat (75% of diet), and is def not vegetarian. One positive is that the diet does encourage lowering your sugar intake.

So, the cookbook has recipes for meals, desserts, salads and snacks, etc. Helpfully (for me), the author / editor flagged the meaty sections, so they could be skipped over, if necessary.

I see a lot of bacon, liberal use of coconut products, and butter everywhere (and I do mean everywhere, keep reading). Wow, so many of the salads list bacon as an ingredient!

Here is a snapshot of some of the recipes:

For breakfast, an egg dish with ham, butter, heavy cream, and cheese. To accompany that, why not try the Buttery Vanilla Latte. That is coffee, butter and vanilla. Mixed together for you to drink. Then for a snack, have 8 radishes with 8 teaspoons of butter. Dinner time, relax and partake of the magical combination of duck fat, bacon, kielbasa, pork ribs and sauerkraut.

Wait, WHAT are Zucchini Noodle Carbonara and Spinach Alfredo Lasagna doing in the pork section? No, never mind, I don't want to know.

There is a recipe for a pizza crust made completely out of sausage. The recipe keeps referring to the word 'crust,' but I don't think it means what they think it does.

Page 192, I just found my first vegan recipe, for Romanesco broccoli with rosemary and garlic. It doesn't look bad at all, but perhaps that feeling can be attributed to meat viewing fatigue. Nice, there are a few vegan sides that look good.

I made it to the desserts, none of them have meat in them! Done!

At first glance, I think this book might be way too unctuous for me, After reading it, I am sure of it!

And I am still recovering from "Whipped lard is combined with butter, orange zest and rosemary for a unexpectedly delicious ketogenic dip." Serve with salami!

It seems like a scheme to allow people to eat bacon-brie burgers every day. Reads more like the menu at a sports bar than a 'healthy lifestyle diet book.'

All right, do your Keto thing if you must. Here is a book for you.
