This one is also one of my favourite volumes! Zoro is still the coolest and bravest swordsman in the world! and Sanji, he used to be so adorkable and funny! I like him a lot! 5 stars!

One Piece vol. 6 is the first volume sure to give you chills in the world of One Piece. The 6th installment continues the Baratie sub arc, with Luffy and crew anchored at the famous ocean restaurant, Baratie. Luffy must work off a debt to the owner, due to a scuffle damaging the roof in the last volume. As Luffy bumbles his way through everday chores, a pirate admiral sets his sites on the restaurant. Accompanied by his cold hearted second command and an army of wearied scalliwags, he is determined to steal the restaurant for his own purposes.

The story really gets moving once we meet Don Krieg, the antagonist of this arc. He may not be the most in depth villain, but he is a force to be reckoned with. Oda chose to just go with a scumbag this time. Don Krieg relies on cheap tricks and tactics to gain the upper hand. We also begin to see more of the inner workings of Sanji. On the outside he seems very rough or rebellious (not with the ladies though), but inside he is a caring person who has sympathy and empathy for those who are hungry. (This will be further explained next volume.) Sanji brings an interesting dynamic to the already growing cast of characters in One Piece. Another fantastic character is Chef Zeff, Sanji's mentor. His gruff personality hides an interesting and intricate father figure. We are also given our first look at the enigmatic Hawkeye Mihawk. (More about him in a bit.)

Luffy is as crazy as ever and his interactions with Sanji can be very funny. His attempt at normal chores comes off hilariously. Usopp takes a bit of a back seat this time, but for good reason. Nami begins to move into the spotlight as she betrays hers friends and makes off with their ship. This is only the beginning for an amazing character arc for her. The real star of volume 6 is Zoro. We learn of his reasons for wanting to become the world's best swordsman, which include beating Mihawk. (spoiler) After a discouraging battle, Zoro is left beaten and bloody. Instead of giving up, however, he pledges to never lose again. (spoiler over) This is an amazing development for Zoro, as we see him accepting his situation and using it to become stronger. Mihawk is a great show stealer. Everytime he appears, he fills the pages with questions and interest. After these events, the battle with Don Krieg begins. The Strawhats split up in order to catch Nami, with Luffy staying behind to fight the good fight.

The Oath is filled to the brim with action and suspense. It does well moving the arc at a good pace while foreshadowing both upcoming events and things the series has still yet to wrap up. Characters help give the story its richness with complexities we hadnt seen in the previous volumes. Though Don Krieg could have been a little less shallow, Oda's true intent was to evolve other characters and build towards the next exciting arc. His art really pops, with fight scenes looking crazier than ever. Design and story telling emulate how far he has come by this point, and it only gets better from here.

My favourite installment so far! Lots of swearing, fighting, and nonsense. What’s not to like?

This volume is fantastic. Zoro fought to Mihawk and he lost. Zoro has very strong spit and thinks that he would rather death than giving up. Awesome!

The end of last volume, new main character Sanji appeared. He is a good cook, so Luffy told him to join us. However he refused about that. He is very kind to everyone who is hungry even bad people. I really like his personality. In this volume, please read the battle of Zoro and Mihawk. Mihawk admitted Zoro is a good swordsman. I love this line" Wounds on the back..... are a swords-man's shame". It's toooooo cool.

You know the drill by now. These aren't reviews as much as chapter notes for future reference. With there being 80 of these and them all being one super long story, individual reviews just don't make much sense. No one should skip volumes any more than you should skip chapters in a novel. Read them all or DNF the whole thing. :p It might help that I haven't found any poor volumes yet. Once I find a two-star volume, I may change that tune. ;)

Anywho, Luffy decides he needs Sanji (introduced last volume) to be his chef. While there on the floating restaurant, a pirate admiral shows up to cause trouble. Following him is Hawk-eye. The Greatest Swordsman in the World.

Also, Nami shows her true thief colors. I mean, not that she ever hid them, but still.

The stuff with Hawk-eye finishes, the stuff with the pirate admiral does not.

There's so much comedy infused into this story but it doesn't stop it from being fun! Luffy wants a cook for his crew and he's set his eyes on Sanji. And if you know Luffy, you know he won't budge on whatever he's decided on.

However, a villain arrives and he's set his eyes on the whole ocean-restaurant-ship. Don Krieg isn't someone they can underestimate though and things get heated until Hawk-Eye arrives and a showdown ensues.

I think my favourite thing about this series is when character's start to become emotional, spit out promises and remind us what their goals/dreams in life will always be, no matter what.
