How badass is this cover art though? So much to love about this series so far. Honestly though, I’ve been waiting for actual lesbian George Fayne for my entire LIFE! And now she and her girlfriend are being cuddly dorks in the background of all the group scenes and I am EMOTIONAL. Vindication!!!!

I feel like nothing much happened in this issue but I love the art and just having new Nancy Drew content

(Humble Comics Bundle: Fan Faves & New Hits by Dynamite, 2019)

I blazed through most of the Humble Bundle this was part of, reading nearly everything in it. I'm clearly not part of the target audience for this one. Nonetheless, I have to say it was reasonably done - diverse cast, reasonable interactions, an interesting story with unexpected twists. I'd imagine this title would have good appeal to the teen audiences it was written for.

From here on out this is officially a hate read. I can’t cancel a pull list subscription halfway in. The characterization is *still* terrible (Nancy is such an asshole in this series????), the writing is *still* some type of obnoxious “I am a grown adult who is trying way too hard to make my lingo sound relevant to younger crowds”, and I think most annoyingly coming from Thompson is that her version of “diverse” is keeping the main cast all-white and only using black characters with shallow

Which is why my queer little heart can’t even be excited about gay ass George. Because her black girlfriend is just a prop for her in this story. Just like Nancy’s team in river heights from issue one were just props for her. Just like Pete is a prop for Nancy right now. I was so excited about this all female creative team doing Nancy Drew but...........this is the worst thing I’ve ever read by Thompson. She missed the mark in a big way. I hope there are more Nancy comics in the future but not ones that are written this poorly.

The series started out strong, but is falling a bit flat.
