Battle-wise, things are heating up and leading to war between the Dragon Kings, Rhi, Balladyn and the Dark Dae against the Light Fae and their Queen Usaiel-who is one loony toon ruler... Don’t let any of this deter you from reading the book, because Grant summarizes everything up to this point in a nicely done conversation between Vlad and Claire...conveniently giving me a refresher too!

This series is long running, but I never tire of the world Donna Grant has built! The politics, the characters, the family and friends, and the romances...there’s never a dull moment! Each story primarily focuses on a specific couple and their developing relationship, while a secondary arc occurs over multiple books before reaching its climax (no pun intended :P) right as another storyline crops up. I’ve missed a couple of books previous to this one and had no issues jumping in with Claire and Vlad’s story.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book from St. Martin’s Press and Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I enjoy the way that Ms Grant tells her stories; the pace her plots develop, the characters she introduces us to and the fantasy world she creates. I’ve only read two books in this series (

) but I have quickly become captivated.

I enjoyed the mystery aspect of this story and the way that all of the characters were working together to try and solve it. I appreciated the various twists, turns, subterfuge and surprises that Ms Grant weaved into this paranormal romance story, not only with V (

) and Claire's romance but within the other plot lines too.

I did enjoy that there are a few storylines running alongside the relationship and romance between our main couple, V and Claire; Vlad’s issue with using his newly found sword, the escalated threat from Usaeil, The Queen of the Light Fae plus the continuing mystery and threat from

    – who are they, how will they strike next and what can the Dragon Kings do to protect themselves and vanquish them.

Having only read a couple of books in this series, I may be able to view characters differently than existing fans; what I'm enjoying is that we have different sorts of bad guys here; downright evil sods, misunderstood rogues, friends turned into enemies and bad-turned-good heroes. I love that, it keeps us readers on our toes. ;-) I appreciate an author who writes multidimensional characters that aren't good or bad but a multitude of greys.

Those who have read my reviews before will know that I definitely enjoy a story more deeply if the lead female character is intelligent, resilient and has plenty of gumption; I wasn’t disappointed here, Claire was all of these and more. In fact, Claire and V were both characters that I connected to; I was completely engaged in their story.Ignite made me chuckle out loud, wipe the odd tear from my eyes, had me on the edge of my seat with tension and gave me yummy flutters of arousal; in short - I was gripped from the first page to the last.

As you can tell by my rating, I did really enjoy this book but there were a couple of things that took the shine off for me.

Although I have read two of the previous books in this well established series, I was still prepared to encounter references to adventures from previous books that I hadn’t read and that some story-lines would continue through to subsequent books. Ms Grant does a good job of giving the relevant information within these pages about past events but I should warn newbie readers that a lot has happened in this series up until this point – a heck of a lot – and I feel that we miss that connection that existing fans would have built up. Ignite is a story that seems to progress existing story-lines rather than conclude any or start new ones.

My second niggle is about the ending; I felt as though there were too many cliffhangers by the final page which I found very frustrating – there were numerous unresolved issues and I was left with more questions than I could shake a stick at.

I really enjoyed this book. It's got everything that I’m looking for in a great story; action, romance, passion, humour and enough titillation to keep me blushing on the bus. I couldn’t stop reading!

Due to some of the darker references, violence and sexual content, I’d recommend this book to adults who are not offended by scenes of this nature who are fans of relationship and romance stories with oodles of fire and passion.

With help from friends V finally has his magical sword back but sadly for some reason he just can't access it's abilities. So very tired of letting his fellow Dragon Kings down V thinks the best thing he can do is return to his mountain to sleep. Well luckily for V he has friends who just love to meddle and it hasn't gone unnoticed that Claire the local nurse has caught his attention so what can possibly go wrong if they get pushed together ?

This series seems to finally be giving up its secrets and as a reader I honestly think it's about time ! I loved reading about V ( the original Vlad ! ) and Claire who cunningly has secrets of her own but unfortunately I did slightly feel that their romance was somewhat overshadowed by events happening around them. Long time readers know that the Fae are split into two camps with an evil queen on one side and a somewhat lovelorn king on the other ! Now add in the recently revealed Others who seem equally keen to see the demise of the Dragon Kings and its hard to see any allies who can be trusted.

So all this comes back to Con the King of Kings , Rhi a Fae with a chequered past involving the Dragons and just whether or not the Reapers or the Druids will stand on their side. Meanwhile of course there's the way this book leaves V and Claire with one hell of a dilemma and if blunt I did feel slightly cheated as its most definitely a cliff hanger . Still I will read the next book as I'm desperate for my suspicions to finally be confirmed and its getting so obvious that I'm finding it ridiculous.

This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair.

Another hot, steamy paranormal romance from Donna Grant.

As always with this author, there is a lot of steam. Be aware that this has loads of offensive language, detailed naked times, and decent action scenes. This is an ongoing series and while each book contains a new couple and could be enjoyed as a standalone, it will be enjoyed much more if read in order.

    I highly recommend this series

    ARC received for review

This is the first one I want to give a three star rating to and not for the story itself. V(lad) and Claire (Sophie's BFF) and absolutely perfect for each other. I loved their romance as it grows and blossoms. Ulrik is now firmly in the like column. Plus both of her secrets....jaw drop on the second. All the other Kings and their mates are around to help and even push, so great. Then add in what UB!tch does - unbelievable.

So, why do I want to give it three stars....a @#$%

This is not a series I would suggest picking up in the middle or even choosing random books to start. Each book takes you a little bit closer to a huge battle I expect is to come. There are multiple enemies of the Dragon Kings and some who we thought were enemies, may not be. This series has been like putting a puzzle together. Each step reveals a piece to the overall bigger picture and yet still leaves you guessing.

There are multiple enemies of the Dragon Kings and some who we thought were enemies, may not be. This series has been like putting a puzzle together. Each step reveals a piece to the overall bigger picture and yet still leaves you guessing.

Ignite is Claire and Vlad's story. V has been an unstable Dragon King for many years due to his sword being stolen. His sword allows only him to locate the dragons they sent away for safety many, many years ago. Con, the King of the Dragon Kings, was forced to send V to sleep in dragon form due to the havoc he was unknowingly unleashing on the humans and that has made it hard for V to adjust to current times now that he has his sword back.

V is realizing that his troubles aren't quite over yet. You get a bit of push and pull at first, between him and Claire due to those lingering affects. What V should have done was have more faith in what Claire could do for him to ease that. Claire has been a fun character to get to know but she is pretty desperate to find true love. After witnessing the love her best friend has with her own Dragon King, Claire is not willing to settle down.

While we get to see V and Claire's love come together in the end, we do get left with a huge cliffhanger for this series. I feel like the next book is when things are really going to ramp up with the Dragon Kings enemy. We still have some unknown mysteries about the Others as well. I'm really curious who the author will choose for her couple to focus on during this time.

    Until the next book...

In all honesty one of the things that kept me from just loving this book itself was that there was a lot of references to the stories before, almost like the author might have been trying to make it to where the story could stand alone? I just felt like an inordinate amount of the story was diverted into details from stories past which if a reader had read the books prior to this one would feel was a little repetitive. I am all for some backstory but with 14 prior books of backstory that is a lot of story to incorporate this late in the game. Another thing that kept me from hitting that 4 star was the fact that V and Claire's story seems to kind of take a back seat for all the plot building needed to continue the ongoing secondary plot line. Their story actually seemed a little rushed to me and I wished we had more time to really get into their story.

Claire, our FMC, is a nurse by day, and secret dating blogger by.. well all the other time she has. Perplexed by the art of love and basically at her wits end of the dating scene, Claire is just about ready to start collecting cats.. That is until some meddling dragon kings decide that she is a potential candidate for a broody King who needs a purpose and a date to get him out of the past and into the present. Vlad has spent so much time obsessing over his lost sword, and now the fact that it doesn't work, that life is passing him by. Becoming more and more depressed, the dragon kings team up to set him up with Claire. Meanwhile a war is brewing and the evil Light Fae Queen has begun to put her plans into motion for way more than world domination. As the kings discover how far her treachery is reaching they scramble to come up with plans to thwart her. Unfortunately in the process, Con goes missing. The kings must team up with every potential ally in an attempt to take her out. Little do they know she has allies of her own with their own devious plans..

There was a lot of buildup for this battle with "Ubitch," but unfortunately the story ended before we ever really got anywhere so here we are left on the cusp of what is shaping up to be a battle of epic proportions.. Hopefully in the next book we can get more answers, instead of reiterating all the questions we already have.. maybe we will even get to bring home some dragons? I'm down!

    DNF

    Yucky, yucky, yucky.

Immediately when I started reading it I knew that I wasn't going to last long, but I pressed forward anyways because I hate DNF-ing books just out of plain bordem. The book however contained things I didn't like and I knew I didn't want this trashy story running through my mind. I made it to chapter two, skimming already by this time.

Content ~ Use of bad language ( which I loathe ) Already talk of sexual stuff AND FOR PETE'S SAKES PEOPLE ITS ONLY CHAPTER 2!! Online dating is mentioned!! And insta love, gross . . . from both sides. Chapter one he's madly in love with her. Chapter two she's fiercely in love with him, and his body. UGH!!

The other reasons I DNF-ed this book were, bordem, immediate dislike of all characters ( I didn't connect with them in any way ), and it was book #15. So I started in the middle of a series, unknowingly. I hate that so much!! Mainly because of the spoilers!!

Anyways it was trashy, both because of the content and it plainly didn't interest me. And yes, it deserves to hang with my one stars because WHO WRITES DETAILS LIKE THAT??! Donna Grant ruined the description, ruined it. And for my detail loving side that horrified me.

***NOTE*** ( I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO RATE AND REVIEW BOOKS BASED ON MY OPINION!! THAT IS THE WHOLE POINT OF A REVIEW!! So I'd like IT if people would STOP clogging my PERSONAL REVIEWS with their nasty comments!! ) What's the point of a book review if not to give your own opinion about the book??

This book is hard for me to rate. The book is written very, very well, the story easily drew me in and the world building in this book is amazing. The hero and heroine were a great couple who I rooted for and loved learning more about, and the funny little twist(that isn't hard to guess but still fun) was a cute little bonus. The hero and heroine were a great couple who I rooted for and loved learning more about, and the funny little twist(that isn't hard to guess but still fun) was a cute little bonus. Now after all that why am I having such a difficult time rating this book. Well like many other times before I read this book because it sounded very interesting and something right up my alley.....and this is not book one. Have I done this tons of times, yes and most of the time I just don't even pay attention that the book isn't the first in a series.

Well this time that bit me in the behind. Quite honestly I was lost a lot in this book. Theres so much that has happened before this book and so much back story and important things that happen before this book that I missed too much. As I read I did pick up some things but not enough to truly enjoy this book and comfortably be able to follow. This is sad(and again all my fault) because I really did enjoy this book and know had I actually stated with book one this book would be very highly rated and I'm sure a series I would want to keep up with.

So with myself completely in the blame here I still highly recommend this book if you start from book one. And I'm saying this without reading any other books from this series. However from reading this book I know that this book and this entire series is very much worth a read. Just don't make the mistake I made and start with this book. Theres so much in this storyline that just blew my mind with how much time and thought the author put into this series and all the intricate details. The love story is wonderful and very engaging, and all the characters really add so much to this story both past future characters yet to come. So if you've read this series, yes pick this book up. If you haven't read this series I say start from book one you won't regret it.
