I am picky about my RHs. But I really liked this one. Not too bad on the editing either. Medium burn and excellent plot to sex ratio.

Evelyn "Eve" has been on the run most of her life, but doesn't know why. A plane crash leaves her without any family or friends until she makes her way to Bradford Hills Institue, a school with a high ratio of Variants (people with special abilities). While there, Eve finds out that she has a special ability that bonds her to a special group of guys.

First, I gotta admit that this reminded me of

, but with more of sci-fi twist instead of fantasy. If you liked Kit Davenport, you will probably like this series too. There are a lot of similarities, but enough differences to stand on its own too.

We've got a special school, some weird government types trying to get their hands on our FMC, and even the guys' personalities are similar (Tyler & River, Josh is like a combo of Wesley and Caleb, and Alec is a combo of Cole and Austin), but, I tried not to get bogged down in the comparison and just enjoyed the story. I loved it, thought it was well done. As a side note, I know it is ridiculous, but I especially appreciated that our FMC

I can't wait for the next book; I hope it comes out soon! Smut factor on this RH is low, only a 2 out of 5 - we are just getting things started after all.

Variant Lost is the first book not only by this author but it is the first book to open my eyes to a story of magic, and it did not dissapoint in delivering an amazing and new experience for me.

This is a reverse harem that I can guarantee is not like what you expect when you hear this sub genre. It is far from smutty and cliche, it is far from your typical reverse harem. This Reverse Harem has more to do with the story of each character and their relationship with one another, rather than the sexual chemistry between them. I have read a fare few and not one has gripped me in and held me hostage to the story like Variant Lost.

With four heroes with various abilities, one human heroine discovering her place in the world, and one strong story line that keeps you captivated... What's not to love about it?

This is Kaydence Snow's first novel and when reading it, if i did not know already, I would not have guessed that it was. She allows her characters to tell their story and really puts you into the story yourself with how well written it is.

There is so much I want to say about how much I love this book, however I can't without spoiling it all for you. So download this novel today on Amazon or Kindle Unlimited and see for yourself why this is one of my top reads of 2018, as well as a 5 star read for me.

    lovers rejoice!

is the reverse harem you have been waiting for! I loved it!

I am such a sucker for those

    tropes!

Special snowflake heroine - love it!

There are "variants" in this world with special abilities. Vitals are the ones who give them their "juice" and amplify their powers. Evelyn has the extra special something with extra juice. There is a school/college, but it's not an "academy" book.

I loved how things moved pretty fast. The drama isn't dragged out. Two of the

I loved how things moved pretty fast. The drama isn't dragged out. Two of the guys do resist the bond, but by book two, it's a done deal. No sexy times in this one (but by the end of book two, yes). YES.

    Well done, well done.

I have zero complaints. I have been jonesing for something like

    for sooo long.

I love Dot too! Cool best friend and positive female relationship is always nice.

I can't even pick a favorite. All the guys are hot AF! Maybe Ethan and Ty/Tyler/Gabe are my favorites? Tyler has that "teacher" vibe going on. The one who tries to resist. Ethan and Josh are all in from the beginning. Alec is the grumpy asshole for the first book. By the second book, he comes around.

So happy this trilogy exists! Yay!

  • Namera [The Literary Invertebrate]

The romance was such a slow burn I nearly DNFed thinking there was no chemistry between the characters, but it improved massively and the writing is very good!

(Warning: one of the harem has a huge OW presence)

This is one of those lovely slow YA type journey of discovery and a new beginning at a new school.

Eve has never settled in one place and had a bit of tragedy in her past and is now starting a new school under scholarship. Meeting new friends and discovering hidden powers which will link her to her harem. Bringing us to....

    Popular reason #2 for a harem -

Yay! I love a magical bond. It makes a great plot device for a harem. You don’t have to go through the angst and guilt ridden emotions like

Although the plot is YA in nature the relationships are more NA so there is a little heat to keeps us adults interested and it flows so well it’s really easy to read. Evelyn is a likeable character

If you were a fan of TVD or Spirit Bound this is similar in nature. New beginnings with some baggage, protective men, emerging powers, relationship building...etc etc

The only kink in the works was someone by the name of

Can’t say but he was a

Yup every time I thought he was redeemable he went and made me want to punch my kindle

I really want him to get his comeuppance

give him a massive kick up the arse

I want begging and ass kissing. But apart from that I loved everything else and the other guys make up for the asshole.

So they are on a plane flying to a new destination where she starts a new secret life. Unfortunately things don't go the way they planned. Their plane is attacked she wakes up to find out she's an orphan. A year later, Eve is at school. While there she meets this weird group of boys - who just happen to be family. She doesn't know it yet, but they are going to end up being bonded.

Now of course the guys were wonderful. Ethan, Josh, Tyler, and Alec were to die for. They definitely reminded me of the guys in Kit Davenport's books which is probably why they were all so lovable. Once they all met, you could see the chemistry between her and all the guys. If I had to choose a favorite, I might pick Josh. Normally I would pick Alec but the whole hot and cold thing is definitely making me change my mind. I did, however, like the little smut I got from them.

Besides them, I did like her friendships with Zara, Dot, Charlie, and Beth. Everyone of them made me smile. The ending was a good cliffhanger but I feel like Beth was an unnecessary death - which I hate. Why make me fall in love with a character just to kill her off like that? Beth deserves justice my friends.

Overall, I need the next book right now!

    Big YES.

    hits all the right spots.

    + Smart, pro active heroine

    + Three dimensional secondary characters

    + Sismance

    + Mystery

    + Action

    + Just enough tragedy

+ Not overly obnoxious harem members

    + Boarding school (cause duh)

    + Not completely romance focused

If I had to list one con? Alec, kind of a miss as the broody dark love interest. The Master of Pain is a bit of a drama queen.

+ Readers that have too many misses with the RH trope

Although this book strongly resembles the Seraph Black series by Jane Washington, I almost prefer this one over that series. Alec is Silas all the way, Tyler is Miro and Josh and Ethan are definitely the twin. Overall this was actually really good, and I look forward to seeing what happens next.

I always wanted to read RH (Reverse Harem) books. I have tried to read them before but nothing seemed to keep my attention. Then I came across this book which was interesting enough but not for long.

Firstly The Variant has an amazing plot. People in this book have amazon abilities to control the weather or to run faster or to read minds etc etc. Such people are called Variants.

    Tyler

    Lie detector

    Sweet and understanding

    Tyler

    Lie detector

    Sweet and understanding

He is Eve’s admin, the university staff member. He helps her out in getting settled in the university. I didn’t feel much chemistry here. There interactions were boring for me. Basically he is kinda the mature guy in this RH book.

Ethan aka Kid (what kind of name is kid?)

    Fire ability

    Hot and popular

He is the hottie who flirts around but no serious relationships. He is attracted to Eve. He invites her over to his party. This relation was fine and believable.

    Alec

    Master of Pain (Causing Pain)

    Rude and arrogant

This one I hated. He is the one with the ow. He kisses the ow in front of the h. He is rude towards the h. Still why she tries to talk with him I don’t understand. He did save her from the plane crash but he doesn’t want her thank you and she still goes after him.

    Josh

    Telekinetic ability

    Boring

This was weird. He and Eve have seen each other before, bumped into each other but there was no recognition or interest. But suddenly in the party he and she kiss each other. No chemistry felt here again.

So even if these guys are variants, they can only use their ability to some extent. For them to use their abilities fully they need a Vital. Vital is another group of people who gives power boost to these Variants, who then can perform their abilities fully. Kind of like true Mates. Variant and Vital. So no points for guessing that the heroine Eve is their Vital.

Firstly I want to say that I liked reading this RH thing. It’s amazing to see a girl getting attention from so many guys. She is the centre of their universe. So I enjoyed getting immersed in this kind of fiction. But It’s hard to keep up with so many guys. Two is fine, three will do too but four? Nopes. It’s crowd. But that’s RH for you.

The book started just right. But later it started getting boring.

Eve was not likable. She was quite comfortable with the guys very quickly.

So even after having a good plot this book couldn’t held my attention later on.
