Metl: The ANGEL Weapon Reviews

If Harry Potter and Percy Jackson were blended together with a splash of dystopian Sci-fi, the result would be METL: The ANGEL Weapon.

I read this book cover-to-cover in one day, and it brought back the nostalgia of when I raced through the HP series as a kid. I don’t want to spoil anything here but the characters are fun, the story is fast-paced, and I really enjoyed the derpy horse named Deber.

I highly recommend grabbing a copy for yourself or requesting it at your local library.

Initially, I bought this book as a thank you and to support Scott in his writing ventures. Although I've witnessed many great stories come out of the Scottwritesstuff twitch stream, my expectations weren't overly high. I can fully say that this book blew my expectations out of the water, especially as someone who hasn't read middle grade fiction in years. I found myself fully invested in the story and immersed in the anti technological world that Scott Wilson tediously created. Sure, there were

I can fully say that this book blew my expectations out of the water, especially as someone who hasn't read middle grade fiction in years. I found myself fully invested in the story and immersed in the anti technological world that Scott Wilson tediously created. Sure, there were a few cheesy moments, but for the entirety of the novel I found myself not wanting to put the book down. Also, I love Debers!!! The quick resolution of the main conflict with Metl had me slightly disappointed but all in all I am looking forward to the next book.

    Write on!

METL: The Angel Weapon is an auspicious debut by newcomer author Scott Wilson. I loved it from the first moments of getting to know Caden and how he is different from the rest of the “Nobodies” in the orphanage he’s at to the very end when he’s been challenged, beaten, and betrayed by all the forces against him and his way of life. It’s a fun romp and a driving read from start to finish—I couldn’t put it down!

Unlike another reviewer here, I felt there was just the right amount of introspection

Unlike another reviewer here, I felt there was just the right amount of introspection from our lead character to put the action into perspective but keep the plot moving. The only thing missing at the end was more answers to all of the mysteries set forth in the story, but I imagine those will be answered in books 2 and 3! So, not really a negative; just a desire to keep reading.

All in all, this is a fascinating world with great characters and conflict. I loved the illustrations that peppered the prose, too. More of that in future books! I highly recommend reading this book and supporting this author. 5 stars!

YA sci fi is not my typical genre but I couldn't put this book down! Much needed break from my nonfiction reads. The author does a great job of weaving together memorable characters, including a charming horse sidekick and a metallic talking spider. A very fun, fast and suspenseful read, can't wait to read the next one!

Metl: The ANGEL Weapon is a captivating tale that speaks volumes to its audience, no matter the age.

It's an adventure that any child would be excited to enter, filled with suspense and danger as well as remarkable courage and overcoming the struggle of feeling like an outcast. That being said, this is one middle-grade book that doesn't treat it's readers like children, mildly tackling themes such as religion, self-discovery, and fate.

Metl: The ANGEL Weapon was an enjoyable read that made me anticipate the next page turn, and I feel that the current generation will enjoy it too. Or, at the very least, put things into perspective with how much technology has become hardwired into today's society.

A classic hero's journey with plenty of unique twists and turns, Metl: The ANGEL Weapon is a great debut novel that should appeal to adventure fans both new and old.

"Nobody" Caden Aire is joined by Annika Crane and Deber the Horse in a desperate search for his father — the one man who can tell him how to save the world. The trio must embark on a journey through Salem's dark underbelly, dogged at every step by the zealous, technology-hating Holy Police who call the town home. Making matters worse

The trio must embark on a journey through Salem's dark underbelly, dogged at every step by the zealous, technology-hating Holy Police who call the town home. Making matters worse is the ticking time bomb in the sky — the metallic moon Metl grows closer and larger by the hour, and Caden's elusive father is the only person who knows how to stop it.

Our heroes make their fair share of friends and enemies along the way... but which are friends, and which are enemies? It's impossible for Caden to know when he can't even trust himself.

Metl: The ANGEL Weapon is packed cover-to-cover with frenetic action that never bores. The world is both ominous and mysterious, populated with characters who span the full fifty shades of a greyscale morality spectrum... and Deber is best horse.

Metl is Scott Wilson's first novel. I am a fan of Scott's dedication to his craft, his support of other writers, and success in seeing this first novel through to completion. There was no question that I would buy a copy to support this young author, but I was also pleased that I really enjoyed his writing. My personal tastes lean towards other genres, but he built a good story line and believable characters that kept me reading and hoping that they would succeed on their quest.

Well done! May this be the first of many more novels.
