Metl: The ANGEL Weapon Reviews

If Harry Potter and Percy Jackson were blended together with a splash of dystopian Sci-fi, the result would be METL: The ANGEL Weapon.

I read this book cover-to-cover in one day, and it brought back the nostalgia of when I raced through the HP series as a kid. I don’t want to spoil anything here but the characters are fun, the story is fast-paced, and I really enjoyed the derpy horse named Deber.

I highly recommend grabbing a copy for yourself or requesting it at your local library.

METL: The Angel Weapon is an auspicious debut by newcomer author Scott Wilson. I loved it from the first moments of getting to know Caden and how he is different from the rest of the “Nobodies” in the orphanage he’s at to the very end when he’s been challenged, beaten, and betrayed by all the forces against him and his way of life. It’s a fun romp and a driving read from start to finish—I couldn’t put it down!

Unlike another reviewer here, I felt there was just the right amount of introspection

Unlike another reviewer here, I felt there was just the right amount of introspection from our lead character to put the action into perspective but keep the plot moving. The only thing missing at the end was more answers to all of the mysteries set forth in the story, but I imagine those will be answered in books 2 and 3! So, not really a negative; just a desire to keep reading.

All in all, this is a fascinating world with great characters and conflict. I loved the illustrations that peppered the prose, too. More of that in future books! I highly recommend reading this book and supporting this author. 5 stars!

YA sci fi is not my typical genre but I couldn't put this book down! Much needed break from my nonfiction reads. The author does a great job of weaving together memorable characters, including a charming horse sidekick and a metallic talking spider. A very fun, fast and suspenseful read, can't wait to read the next one!

I enjoyed reading the story and found Scott Wilson portrayed the emotions and struggles the characters undergo during their journey very well. I am without hesitation recommending it to friends young and old, and think the message of friendship in a world devoid of technology is incredibly important for young readers of today.

Adventure, mystery, and a fantasy world all in one story. Great debut novel and a must read for fans of middle grade fantasy/science fiction. Grades 5/6+

Metl is Scott Wilson's first novel. I am a fan of Scott's dedication to his craft, his support of other writers, and success in seeing this first novel through to completion. There was no question that I would buy a copy to support this young author, but I was also pleased that I really enjoyed his writing. My personal tastes lean towards other genres, but he built a good story line and believable characters that kept me reading and hoping that they would succeed on their quest.

Well done! May this be the first of many more novels.
