The author always comes up with heroes that would make ultimate boyfriends. She did it with Rhett and Kip, and now with Abe. He was adorable – there is just no other way to describe him. He wasn’t perfect, but in the end, the whole enchilada of all things ABRAHAM DAVIS was adorable!!!

For me the book really started to come together in the second half of the novel. The banter, the lol moments, I enjoyed it all.

For me the book really started to come together in the second half of the novel. The banter, the lol moments, I enjoyed it all.

Skylar and her roommate Hannah were the hoot!! Like an old married couple they made me laugh and grin so much – even if sometimes they took it a bit too far. But I adored how comfortable they were with each other – friendship goals!!! It was all very much what I enjoy in a SN book.

On top of that, Skylar and Abe were a great couple. They were similar in many ways, especially in their personalities. Both were quieter and laid back – people I could easily relate to. But in the bedroom – lol – those two had me cracking up! Still waters run deep etc – lol.

Even my love for all things Zeke was rewarded with a cameo that I just adored. He was his asshole self and I adored him.

Now even though I didn’t exactly get what I wanted. In my eyes and heart, this book wasn’t a real Douchebag book. The hero was much too sweet and adorable to be titled a Douchebag. But fortunately the banter, and lol moments I came to adore from this author, brought it all together.

All in all, The Lying Hours was a sweet addition to a favorite series. Not exactly what I wanted and needed, nevertheless enjoyable, and of course it left me wanting more. Which we might get with Hannah’s novella – yay.

is another romantic comedy that tries to put a new spin on the “Cyrano De Bergerac” story and even though it might be predictable, I can’t deny that it was wildly entertaining. I didn’t know what to make of Abraham Davis at first, but as soon as we find out he’s a huge reader and loves to spend quiet time in a second-hand book store, I was a goner for him. He’s truly a good guy, who might be a bit of a pushover, but his heart is golden.

Skylar is snarky and a little anti-social…my kind of girl. She’s not into partying and getting drunk. Skylar wants to be in a committed relationship but hasn’t had luck in the love department and so she signs up on a dating app after being convinced to do so by her bestie. She soon matches up with JB, and the two have great banter over the app. What she doesn’t know is JB is really Abe, who is chatting up girls for his roommate/teammate who is trying to get over a broken heart. JB is a true douchebag with absolutely no skills with the written word, so Abe agrees to help him find girls in hopes that his friend gets out of the funk he’s in. I’m beginning to realize that it’s the friends in these stories that are the douchebags and not the main characters!

Of course, when Skylar meets the real JB for drinks, it’s obvious that the two have absolutely no chemistry and JB pretty much screws it all up. Somehow Abe convinces Skylar to agree to another date with JB but this time it's a double date which Abe and her Bestie, Hannah, will go on with them. It’s during this double date that Abe realizes the girl of his dreams is the one he’s been trying to woo for his buddy JB. How is he going to get the girl, when she’s supposed to be with JB? What will Skylar do when she finds out Abe has been deceiving her from the start? Makes for a pretty interesting plot, right?!!

Looking for a fun, light-hearted New Adult romance that packs plenty of laughs along with a sweet and steamy romance? Look no further! The Lying Hours was everything I've come to love about Sara Ney and everything I love in New Adult romance. It had amazing secondary characters, a cameo from my TOP FAVORITE douchebag. Oh, and I'm pretty convinced that Skylar's BFF happens to be my spirit animal.

But I digress.

Contrary to the title, Abe is definitely not a douchebag. He's the quintessential nice guy. He's the fixer, the one everyone goes to with their problems. He's also the one currently trying to pick out dates for his lazy roommate who's trying to get over his ex. The only problem? His roommate is most definitely a douchebag. And the last girl that he matches him with on the university's dating app happens to be a lot more of his type. But she thinks she's talking to JB. And poor Abe is in way over his head.

Admittedly, this got off to a somewhat slow start with me. I'm not even sure why, or if I can put my finger on why exactly. But I also know that it didn't last long before I was completely enraptured in this story. Skylark is everything I love in a great heroine. This girl takes zero sh*t. She isn't shy about putting anyone in their place, including JB and then sooner or later, poor Abe too. Her best friend and roommate Hannah was the comedic relief of the story. This chick was AWESOME. I seriously couldn't get enough of her quirky humor and loud mouth. I'm seriously thrilled to get a novella for her next. But I digress again.

I loved that Skylar makes Abe work for it. And I loved that even though Abe is a super nice guy, he's also not perfect. The man messes up on more than one occasion but he's not afraid to own up to it either. The chemistry between them was instant and potent. I loved the two of them together once they finally get there.

I would have loved to have an epilogue or another chapter for them, though. I couldn't help but feel like I wanted just a little more of the romance at the end because it IS a slow burn for them for a while. I suppose I just wanted more of them together to appease my selfish wants. Le sigh. But that aside, I still seriously loved this book. It was quirky and fun and absolutely delicious! I adore this series and I adore everything Sara Ney writes. This was certainly no exception.

Another winner for me, Sara Ney has completely pulled me in with this series and this new addition to the family is no disappointment.

This was a cute book, easy to just get comfy and immerse yourself in the story. Plus, bonus points for the humour - The Lying Hours was such an entertaining read and I really loved both characters.

The Lying Hours has all of Sara Ney's trademark deep soulful laugh out loud banter between her characters, one of the things I adore about this author. This is book 5 in the series, but can definitely be enjoyed as a standalone.

Gotta love the boyfriends Sara Ney dreams up for us...... Abe was such a swoony hero and ohhhh so handsome. He’s the guy we all wish actually existed in real life, and we were lucky enough to have his attention.

Well... I'm pretty upset to admit that this was just an okay read for me. I love this series so much, my favorites were Oz and Zeke, and Rhett became my ultimate book boyfriend but the one about Elliot and this one were not a hit for me.

I mostly just dragged this book and didn't connect with the characters or laughed with the scenes, they were just so whiny, boring and ugh, I don't know, I didn't like them. I have to say my favorite parts were when Zeke was on and talking about Violet and helpin

I don't know, I think I expected a lot from this book and ended up a little disappointed but I won't give up on this series and I'm already looking forward to seeing the novella Sara Ney will be releasing in August about Hannah and Rex. Hannah was actually the best character in this one.

This book was so lame… so so lame! Not recommended at all!

I read Book 1 & 2 in this series and they were good. I had fun reading them and my rating was 4 stars for both. I skipped Book 3 & 4 because they were not my cuppa and I read this one. Real life sucks these days so I needed a book to put a smile on my face. However, I never smiled while reading it -not even once!

It is never fun. It is boring and frustrating.

The hero is a pushover. He thinks he is a nice guy who helps people around him but what he cannot see is he is abused by them. They all take advantage of him. He is not even a beta, he is just a lame guy.

The way the hero, Abe, meets the heroine is through a dating app. Abe answers the messages of his roommate, JB, on the app as he is not good at messaging or communication. So basically, he is like a pimp, finding girls for his friend to hook-up. He does the opening conversations and sets a date and a place!

For once, he himself gets interested in one of these girls. Although he knows she won’t like his roommate JB and he is also sure that his roommate will not like her, he still sets them up.

Come on, you have been messaging with the girl and finding her funny and smart. You have been wanting to meet her, so why set her up with JB?

Of course, the date is a disaster but then, he sets up another date, this time a double date and asks our heroine Skylar to bring a friend. During that date, Skylar and JB still don’t have any chemistry but Abe and Skylar do. After that date, he still pretends to be JB on the app and asks Skylar if she wants to have a date with Abe and she agrees to it.

    Lies, lies, lies...

    *********************************************

I waited patiently until they became a couple, hoping it might get better but no, it just gets worse and worse. The following parts may contain spoilers.

Well, at the end of the novel , they are just dating, nothing else... So you may call it a "Happy for Now" kind of ending.

    *********************************************

The book is not funny. It is not emotional. It is not hot. The intimate scenes are towards the end and only twice. Neither of them are tastefully written. So, all in all, the book is a huge disappointment from all aspects.

There is no epilogue. The last chapter is by Skylar's roommate, Hannah, and it is about a guy she meets on the same app. That chapter serves as a preparation for the next book. I sure won't be reading it; dropping the series here...

I didn't find any redeeming qualities about her.

I think I kept pushing myself to continue because I liked the H so much. He was pretty awesome and I felt like he deserved SO much better! Skylar was the definite douchebag in this book.

My final straw was their first intimate scene. It wasn't intimate at all! She was bossy (and not in a fun way 😜) and completely selfish to where she was doing stuff like rolling her eyes and snapping at the H during it and he was apologizing. Not sexy at all.

She's not even close to the kind of h I want to read about. Thank goodness this was on KU.

Other readers seemed to like this just fine, so it very well could've been just a me thing 🤷🏻‍♀️
